You probably have heard the term “superfoods” but may be still wondering what special there is in them that makes people crave for. The truth is, there are tons of properties that these foods have which is why they are “super”. The coolest thing about  top superfoods is, they are not that exotic nor expensive, in fact, they are relatively cheap and you can get them anywhere! From your backyard, the grocery store or local market, it’s a must to include nutrient rich foods in your diet if you want to get the best benefits, and not miss out on improving your wellbeing!

Superfoods are packed with nutrients

Superfoods are known for being rich sources of vitamins, minerals, fiber, antioxidants, and other natural elements that enhance body function. They are also proven to help decrease the risk of acquiring certain diseases. Here are some of them, which I totally love and recommend:

Avocado

Also known as “heart-friendly”, the avocado has many properties, not only for internal health, but also for hair and skin. Did you actually know that avocados are fruit? Yes, in fact one of the best sources of monounsaturated fat and Vitamin E, which aid in cardiovascular health.

Eating regularly helps to keep your hair and skin moisturized. My favorite way of eating them is raw in breakfast or salads. They are also great to use for facial and hair masks.

Eggs

Most people’s favorite, especially athletes! This superfood benefits beyond having good protein. Eggs are special for been one of the most complete foods. They contain almost all of the vitamins: A, D, E, K, and B complex. Because of that, you must realize how many benefits you can get out of these: from a better vision, to improving heart health, brain function, building muscles, helping with your immune system, etc. Did you know that consuming eggs regularly help to prevent alzheimer? This is due to a component called lutein.

Flaxseed

They say that an apple a day keeps doctors away! What a true statement, as apples help with a better immune system, they are a rich source of fiber, so it aids in a healthy digestion. They are commonly known for preventing lung cancer, through quercetin. This is one of my must haves on a daily basis, so I usually have at least one as a morning snack.

Spinach

Spinach is by far one of the greatest green leafs that help with blood clot and building of strong bones. A half-cup provides more than 5 times your dose of vitamin K. Spinach leaves may be eaten raw in salads or included in green veggie juice.

Oatmeal

Famous for containing the two types of fiber. Excellent for diabetic patients and prevention, oatmeal helps to lower blood sugar levels. It also aids in increasing the “good cholesterol”. It’s also top food for appropriate digestion, hence, lowering the risks of constipation. Serves wonderful as a ceral or drinks.

Coconut oil has so many other beneficial properties that have made it one of the greatest superfoods. It boosts your metabolism, helps to prevent heart disease, it’s good for gaining better brain function in people with Alzheimer. Additionally, it improves skin and hair moisture. It is very good for cooking, since the oil can maintain its state during high temperatures.

Strawberries

These tropical fruits are one of the best sources of vitamin C and fiber. Strawberries have other antioxidants that are special for boosting immunity, repairing body tissues and maintaining healthy blood vessels. They are also top in improving digestion and eye function, as well as keeping a healthy and glowing skin.

Kiwis are great fruits for their high vitamin C content and fiber. Kiwis are great for smooth skin, preventing premature aging and helping to keep a good bowel function. Some researchers also found that eating kiwis regularly can reduce asthma-related wheezing. Pro fact: 1 kiwi contains 110% daily requirement of Vitamin C!  I love kiwis in smoothies, in fruit salads, or alone.

Other superfoods

Did you know that a good cup of coffee full of adaptogens can also boost your energy? I’ve had Krios Coffee Brilliance Blend. This is my top choice, since it boosts your energy without the negative side effects of caffeine. Also, I recommend this coffee because it’s infused with vitamins and adaptogens (natural superfood blends), which enhance your focus and memory. Other benefits include:

  • Stress and anxiety relief
  • Immune system boosters
  • No jitters no energy crash

  1. The best part about these foods is that most of them are really yummy. I say most because I don’t like avocados, that doesn’t mean I don’t eat them. I will add some avocado to my smoothies just to get the nutrition from them. The cool thing is that the avocado makes my smoothie creamy and I can’t taste it. So its a win win.
Thank you for reminding of what foods I should be eating to stay healty.
